Open since April 13th, 2018 in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, the Atelier des Lumières celebrates the union of art and digital technology. Following on from the success of the one in Baux-de-Provence, this first digital art centre in Paris is currently presenting two incredible immersive exhibitions celebrating the Mediterranean. The Mediterranean; an endless source of inspiration

A masterpiece of cutting-edge technology and artistic innovation, the Atelier des Lumières brings you a multi-sensory experience conjured up by the magic of completely immersive digital works screened continuously via 140 laser video projectors and a unique spatialised sound system. The new exhibition, Journeys Around the Mediterranean, examines the movements that arose over nearly two centuries of pictorial art and pays tribute to great painters such as Renoir, Monet, Picasso, Chagall, Dufy and Matisse. Over 500 major works are projected on 3,300 m2 of the floors and 10-metre high walls of this renovated 19th century foundry building to give the impression of walking around within the paintings.

 

Yves Klein; Infinite Blue returns to the Mediterranean

Complementing this superb exhibition, the Atelier des Lumières is also featuring a retrospective of a hundred works by Yves Klein called Infinite Blue, produced by the creation studio Cutback. This totally dazzling exhibition highlights the close relationship between artistic creation and the Mediterranean, which has long been a powerful source of inspiration. A major figure of 20th century art, Yves Klein believed that painting is largely about colour and devoted a large part of his career to expressing this concept. You can immerse yourself in the sensibility of a creative who sought to turn his life into a work of art via this fascinating digital experience accompanied by the soaring music of Vivaldi and the electronic rhythms of Thylacine.
