This autumn, the Marais welcomes one of the season’s major artistic events. From October 6, 2026 to February 7, 2027, the Musée National Picasso-Paris presents Kurt Schwitters. The Chaos-World. 1918–1948, an exceptional retrospective dedicated to one of the most distinctive figures of the European avant-garde.
More Than 300 Works to Discover Kurt Schwitters
Painter, sculptor, poet and typographer, Kurt Schwitters (1887–1948) developed an artistic practice that cannot easily be confined to a single movement. Closely associated with Dada and Constructivism, he also contributed to the evolution of abstraction during the first half of the 20th century.
The exhibition brings together more than 300 works and documents, including paintings, sculptures, collages, assemblages, drawings, photographs, notebooks, books and archival material. The exhibition offers an opportunity to explore three decades of artistic experimentation and discover how Schwitters constantly pushed the boundaries between different disciplines.
It is a rare opportunity, as France has not hosted a retrospective of this scale dedicated to the artist for more than thirty years.
