Situated in the heart of the Beaubourg district, the Pompidou Centre is an emblematic cultural space. This architectural gem of the 20th century is distinguished by its ‘inside-out’ design, with outdoor escalators and an extensive external array of coloured pipes and ducts. It hosts many exhibitions and boasts an excellent rooftop bar/restaurant.
Exhibitions not to be missed
The year 2019 promises a wealth of diverse, exciting and fascinating exhibitions at the Pompidou Centre.
Vasarely; the Sharing of Forms pays tribute to the founding father of optical art (Op Art), Victor Vasarely, with the artist’s first French retrospective for more than 50 years. Some 300 works await you from February 6th to May 6th, 2019.
You still have until April 15th, 2019 to discover Histories of a Collection. With this exhibition, the Pompidou Centre celebrates the bicentenary of the Museum of Living Artists, which was an inspiration for the National Museum of Modern Art.
If you’re not yet familiar with it, here’s the perfect opportunity to acquaint yourself with the creativity of the Brazilian artist, Erika Verzutti, who is represented by an exhibition running from February 20th to April 15th, 2019. Her work is remarkable for the sensuality of its forms, the tactility of the materials used and the inclusion of unexpected details.
For post-exhibition relaxation …
To relax after your cultural experience, we invite you to ascend to the roof of the Pompidou Centre, where you’ll find the Georges bar/restaurant.
The Georges has walls of windows commanding an incredible panorama of Paris, including views of the Eiffel Tower, Sacré-Cœur Basilica and Notre Dame Cathedral.
If you’re not ready for lunch or dinner, the Georges also serves as a bar where you can have a drink, enjoy a snack or sample cocktails as original as they are surprising! To ensure a table near the windows, we advise you to book in advance.
